Double Z Gate Fold Card Using Merry Mice

DSCN0533.jpg

Today’s share is a fancy fold, not sure the official name but to me it is a Double Z with a Gate closure, so I am calling it a Double Z Gate Fold card.  I love that it is very easy to do and always a hit with everyone.
It features the sets Merry Mice and Wonderful Year and of course no card of mine wouldn’t be complete with out using my trusty Aqua Painters or the Big Shot.
As a side note, I do LOVE my Big Shot and I know it is a HUGE investment.  With the holidays on the horizon, why not add it to your wish list and maybe you will find one under your tree!  For more info on how to do this please check out my blog post from September 26, 2016.
Another way to get the Big Shot is to have a workshop and earn Stampin’ Rewards to help with the cost. It can be in your home with friends, collecting orders from the catalog or why not try a Facebook workshop!  Contact me for more details.
Enjoy today’s share!

Mistletoe & Holly – November Paper Pumpkin Kit

100_0912With Thanksgiving tomorrow, I thought playing with my November Paper Pumpkin kit would be a perfect way to spend the afternoon while my pies were baking.  This month’s selection features everything you need to make ten holiday cards with lined envelopes, five of two different designs.  These are perfect for creating quick cards your family and friends will love!

I always like to create at least one of the projects in the kit as instructed. The instructions are easy to follow and if you would like to watch a video on how to assemble your project you can go to PumpkinHowTo.com.  The kit has everything you need (pre-cut and pre-scored) including the Mistletoe & Holly photopolymer stamp set, a Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Spot, 10 printed card bases (5 ea of 2 designs), 10 printed envelopes, 3 sheets of die-cuts, 5 die cut banners, 5 printed polka dot squares, 5 white squares, 5 die cut red rectangles, 100 pearls (50 red & 50 white), 8 yards linen thread, 2 sheets of dimensionals (2 sizes) and 200 adhesive dots.  Here are the two projects included with the Mistletoe & Holly kit.

While I love the projects each month I like to be a little creative and come up with variations of each card by tweaking the design or by adding different accessories and coordinating DSP or cardstock.  You would be surprised once you get started the ideas will just come flowing out.

For the card on the left I cut one of the red panels in half and adhered it to the card in a diamond shape.  Then I added the white and green dotted square on top. This time I used the NOEL stamp.

The card on the right adds a few strips of washi tape and I trimmed the edges off the white and red panels which I adhered to the card in an angeled design.

The card on the left was stamped using the greeting MERRY & BRIGHT directly on the card.  Then I used  Lots of Labels framelits to cut two panels one in Cherry Cobbler and one in Whisper White.  I added a bow using thick bakers twine in Cherry Cobbler.

For the last card I used the Ovals Collection Framelits to cut two ovals, one using the Merry Moments DSP Stack in the Cherry Cobbler with Crumb Cake Dots and the other in Whisper White.  I stamped the greeting in Cherry Cobbler and the holly stamp using Old Olive.  I then colored in the holly leaves with an Old Olive ink pad and AquaPainters.  For a little accent I coiled a piece of gold cording trim and put it behind the Whisper White panel and I added three red pearls from the kit for the holly berries.

If you are interested in this kit they just became available to order, but you need to be a Paper Pumpkin subscriber (supplies are limited).  For more information on My Paper Pumpkin or to subscribe please click here.  Subscriptions are available on a month to month plan or you can prepay in one, three, six or twelve months.  The prepaid plan makes a perfect holiday gift for any crafter on your list!

I hope everyone has a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving filled with the love of family and friends!

Happy Stampin!

til next time,

~Jo

Technique Tuesday! – Stampin’ Mist Background

100_0834

Welcome to Technique Tuesday!

I am always looking for new ways to make interesting backgrounds and this one is both quick and easy yet looks really difficult. I have to say this is my new favorite technique, I love how the colors blend on their own it really makes the night sky in this card come to life.  Have fun and enjoy!

til next time!

~ Jo

Supplies Used:

Sizes of cardstock:

Night of Navy  – 1 piece (5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″)

Whisper White – 3 pieces (5 1/4″ x 4″)

Directions:

Attach one Whisper White panel to the inside of the Night of Navy card base and set aside.  Cut a Stampin’ Sponge into quarters.

100_0869100_0870100_0871

Using another Whisper White panel start with the lightest color, Soft Sky, and sponge the top two-thirds of the panel using a circular motion.  Next using the Tempting Turquoise sponge over the Soft Sky covering it completely.  Repeat the process using the Night of Navy.  At this point the top portion will be completely covered in Night of Navy.

100_0874100_0876100_0879100_0881100_0883100_0884

Using Stampin’ Mist lightly spritz the panel.  Take care not to saturate the cardstock, it should be a light mist.  Set aside to dry.  The edges may curl slightly, not to worry when you adhere it to the card base it will straighten out.

100_0885100_0886

While your background is drying, take the sleigh edgelit die and cut out the image so the panel is cut in half.  Using the top panel cut out the tree image as shown.

100_0887100_0889100_0893100_0894

Using the glue pen apply a strip of glue along the edge of both panels and on the trees.  Sprinkle with Dazzling Diamonds glitter to create snow.

100_0896100_0897100_0898

Stamp the greeting “jingle all the way” as shown using Night of Navy ink.  Set both panels aside.

100_0895100_0901

The background panel should be dry, if not you can use a heat gun to speed things up.  Using the glue pen randomly dab glue on the background, sprinkle with Dazzling Diamonds to make stars that twinkle in the night sky.

100_0902100_0903

Attach the background to the card base.  Last step attach the trees to the background then the sleigh on top as shown.

100_0905100_0907100_0909

Have fun using this technique on all your works of heart!

Snow Way!

100_0853

Hi everyone, it’s card share Saturday!

I just love snowmen and when I saw this set it was at the top of my wish list. The coordinating framelits dies make this the perfect set not only for Christmas cards but for any winter greeting.  Add the Season of Cheer DSP and the Softly Falling Textured Impressions embossing folder and you have a quick fun holiday card!

Happy Stamping!

til next time,

~Jo

Whisper White – 1 piece (4″ x 5 1/4″), 1 piece (4″ x 2 3/4″) and scraps to stamp the snowman & his accessories

Steps:

  • Fold the card base in half and adhere the large white panel to the inside
  • Attach the DSP to the front of the card base
