One of my favorite sets in the 2020 January – June Mini Catalog is Honey Bee. It coordinates with the Detailed Bees dies and will be one of the sets retiring on June 2, 2020. The Golden Honey DSP was a Sale-A-Bration gift at the $50 level and is no longer available but there is still a way to receive a pack of this gorgeous paper. See the contest below for all the details!
I didn’t stamp too much on this card because I wanted the detail in the DSP to showcase the card. Also I didn’t use the dies so it is perfect for a beginning or casual stamper. To step it up you could die cut the bee on the front and attach with dimensionals to give it some depth.
For the card base I didn’t use a full piece of cardstock. When closed it gives the illusion of a full card but when you open the flap you have the greeting hiding behind the bee and another layer of DSP with ribbon so the inside is as pretty as the front.
Card Dimensions:
Basic Black cardstock – 5 1/2″ x 6 3/8″, score at 4 1/4″
Whisper White cardstock 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ – cut two
Gold Foil – 2″ x 5 3/8″ and 2 5/8″ x 2 5/8″
Black Foil – 2 5/8″ x 2 5/8″
Black & Gold Honeycomb DSP 1 7/8″ x 5 1/4″
Bee and flower DSP 4″ x 5 1/4″
Gold metallic-edge ribbon 5″
Directions:
Stamp the bee on a small Whisper White square using Black Stazon ink with the greeting above. Color the bee body with a Crushed Curry Stampin’ Write marker. Add some shimmer to the wings with Wink of Stella.
Stamp the flowers on the other Whisper White square again using the Stazon ink. Color with the Crushed Curry marker.
To create the coordinating black ribbon, lay the ribbon on your grid paper, place a sheet of cardboard behind it. Taking a Basic Black blend color the Gold Edged ribbon, set aside to dry. Since the Blends are alcohol based they dry pretty quick. This works for any light colored ribbon, using this technique you can always have ribbon to match your projects!
Attach the honeycomb DSP to the gold foil panel and then place on the flap on the left of the card front
Attach the bee panel to the gold foil square then attach to the flap in the center as shown, taking care to only put adhesive on the RIGHT side. That way the card will open.
Wrap the ribbon around the bee and floral DSP attaching to the panel in the back. Attach entire panel to the inside of the card.
Adhere the inside greeting to the black foil square then to the center of the card, making sure the outer greeting completely covers this panel. This will hide the “surprise” for the recipient.
Try using the ribbon technique and fold with other stamp sets and Designer Series Paper, I would love to see what you come up with! Send me your creations and I will display them in my customer gallery!
Love the Golden Honey DSP but didn’t get a package when Sale-A-Bration was going on? Well now is your chance! All you have to do is:
purchase the Honey Bee Bundle or the Honey Bee Stamp Set and
use Hostess code DJPSQ474 when placing your order and
you will be placed into a drawing to win a package of Golden Honey DSP!
BONUS: When using the Hostess Code DJPQ474 and placing an order $35 or more you will receive a DSP sampler pack as a free gift as a thank you for supporting my business!
The winner will be announced on June 3rd and the DSP pack will be shipped to the address on your order. Be sure to place your order soon, retiring products are only available until June 2, 2020 or while supplies last.

Welcome back! Today’s post will focus on the new design of the classic ink pads. Like I said in Part 1, change can be a good thing and I think the ink pad redesign is a wonderful change that will make your stamping much easier. You may wonder why the new design? The case’s manufacturing mold was about to expire and they can only be used certain number of times before it needs to be replaced. Instead of ordering new molds of the same design, Stampin’ Up! decided to make some improvements that I know you will love! In addition the ink has been reformulated to reduce bubbles, especially with brand new juicy pads. This will ensure you get exceptional ink coverage on solid stamps.
Lets do a side by side comparison of the old pad versus the new pad:
The new pads are a little more square, the outer case measures 3 5/8″ x 4 1/4″, with the ink pad itself measuring 2 5/8″ x 3 1/2″ x 1/2″. The old style is slightly narrower and longer with the outer case measuring 3 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ x 3/4″ and the pad at 2 3/4″ x 3 5/8″.
There are still grooves along the edge so you can easily grip the pad when inking larger stamps.
Now lets see the new improvements to the design:
The old style pads have a lip running around the bottom edge. Making them a little thicker and when stacking they tend to be a bit wobbly.
The new pads are completely flat except for four tiny little “pegs” on the bottom and four little holes on the top of each pad.
This allows them to “lock” onto one another when stacking. An added bonus the thinner design saves space!!
When the pad is open you now can add a sticker to the inside allowing you to see the color at a glance.
The label on the front has a larger color block with a small icon showing the color collection it belongs to. While the In Colors on the old pads did show that they were in that collection the core colors did not. I love this feature, if you are like me I keep my ink pads by collections. Now at a glance I can make sure they are in the right grouping.
Opening your new pads:
The pads have been designed to open easier. They also are not as loose as the old pads reducing the chance of the pad coming out of its track. That being said here are step by step directions and tips on opening your new pads.
Step 1: Grasp the pad in your hand and place your thumb in the little groove. Then simply lift up and open as you would a compact. No more push and slide. This may take some getting used to, but once you get the hang of it opening them is super easy! Tip: The pad will be stiff when you first open it, but the more you open and close the pad it will loosen and the easier it will be to open.
Step 2: Once open, slide it along the track toward you and lock in place. Again it will be stiff the first few uses. This is normal and will loosen the more the pad is used. The tighter fit is part of the design so the pad portion doesn’t come off the track. Tip: To help “grease” the track – try rubbing a birthday candle in the groove. The wax will act as a lubricant.
Step 3: To close the pad grasp in your hand and place your finger in the channel pull sightly to unlock and then continue pulling until fully extended. Then flip over and snap closed.
Another final note on the ink pads. Stampin’ Up! will no longer carry Archival Basic Black and Archival Basic Gray. The Basic Gray will be replaced with a dye based Classic ink and be included the Neutrals Collection. Note: You cannot use the Archival reinkers on the dye based pad you must use the classic Basic Gray reinker.
As a substitute for the Archival Basic Black you will now use Jet Black StazOn for stamping on non-porus surfaces and watercoloring. When using your Blends you will continue to use your Tuxedo Black Memento pad. Tip: Remember when choosing your ink pad, you want the ink to be the opposite of the medium you are using. For watercoloring you want a solvent based pad (StazOn) and when using the alcohol based Blends you want a dye based ink (Memento or Stampin’ Up! Classic ink).
As a special promotion, you can purchase the 2018-2020 In Colors with the new pad design along with three different bundles ranging in price from $57.00 – $127.50 and all include a free item as part of the promotion. Making the world a happier place, one card at a time!
This is my absolute favorite time of the year! Sale-A-Bration is in full swing and as an avid paper crafter I am always excited when I can get more for my stamping dollar. This year Stampin’ Up! went all out, not only can you choose from some awesome stamp sets, there is ribbon, Designer Series Paper, Kits, Thinlits, and a even a Dynamic Textured Embossing Folder! And not only can you get a free item for every $50 you spend you can also choose a few offerings at the $100 level. Such choices…where to start??
First up a new style stamp, photo realistic. It is patent pending and makes such an impressive statement.
For this card I used Calypso Coral, Basic Gray and Whisper White. The little pearls are colored using Calypso Coral and Smoky Slate blends. Such an easy way to color coordinate all your projects!
How about something fun for a birthday? Party Pandas is perfect!
The fun bright colors of Lemon Lime Twist and Melon Mambo make this a card anyone would love! The Melon Mambo balloon is created using the Balloon Bouquet punch then I added some Basic Black bakers twine for a cute little bow. To give the balloon some dimension the edges were sponged using Melon Mambo ink then attached to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
For a quick and easy card try using Beautiful Peacock!
The colors of Lemon Lime Twist and Bermuda Bay go beautifully together, very peacock like don’t you think? This card is done very clean & simple leaving a lot of white space and the set is photopolymer so lining up the peacock is a breeze!
Finally as I mentioned, Stampin’ Up! has added a few items that are available at the $100 level. One of those is the Celebrate You Thinlits and they coordinate with the Amazing You set available at the $50 level. If you have an order of $150 or more not only will you earn Stampin’ Rewards but you can get the set and coordinating thinlits for free!
For this card I used the colors from the stunning Painted with Love Specialty Designer Series paper; Calypso Coral, Melon Mambo, Powder Pink, Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White and accents of Gold Foil. I cut the “YOU” from Melon Mambo and “amazing” from Rich Razzleberry cardstock. The little heart was cut from the Lots to Love Box Framelits Dies using Calypso Coral. I decided to pick up the gold accents and embossed “are simply” with gold embossing powder on Powder Pink cardstock.
The BIGGEST sale of the Stampin’ Up! year is almost over. Did you take advantage and get your FREE stamps and accessories?? If you haven’t there is still time – the sale ends March 31, 2018.
How do you take advantage of this awesome event?? It’s so easy!

Making the world a happier place, one card at a time!
Welcome! This is going to be the first installment of my new series that will feature one particular stamp set from any of our current catalogs. I always find there are sets in the catalog I might not like or I just turned the page not giving them a second glance UNTIL I see what others have done with it, then it becomes a must have. Or maybe you have a set that hasn’t been loved in a while, all you might need is a little inspiration to make some fabulous works of heart. I hope you enjoy this series and if you have a particular set you would like me to feature, please send me an email and I will do my best to use it in future posts. Enjoy!
This week’s set is Eastern Beauty and the entire Eastern Palace Suite. When I first saw this set I thought to myself it’s OK, just not my cup of tea. But I knew it was going to be a special for the month of May so I decided to order the bundle. Once I started playing with it all I can say is WOW!! This is one versatile set!
For this card I used the colors Tranquil Tide, Fresh Fig and Very Vanilla. To create the doily in the middle I used the two of the medallion dies and the largest circle from the Layering Circles framelits. The fun thing about the Eastern Medallions Thinlets is how all the parts work together, You can mix and match the rings to make all types of designs.
See how well they fit together! You can run it through your Big Shot using all three at once, just make sure to use the Precision Plate and roll it through several times to get a nice cut.
I stamped a few accents and the greeting then mounted on a large circle of Fresh Fig. Add a strip of Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper and you are all set!
Next up I decided to used the adorable notecards that are available as a FREE gift with the Eastern Palace Starter Bundle.
I again used the medallions but changed up the middle ring and added a third ring to create delicate cut out on the front of the card. I placed a piece of Lemon Lime Twist DSP and stamped accents in Dapper Denim and Lemon Lime Twist Ink. To give it a little bling , a few small pearl accents were added.
This card is super easy and super quick! There is no stamping involved, instead it uses the new Eastern Gold Vinyl Stickers! All I did was peel and place on the Tranquil Tide card. It creates an elegant look with no effort! So next time you need a card in a hurry reach for these stickers and you can have a card in minutes!
This card uses all the elements I have shown you so far but adds a cute little gold tassel! The colors used are Tranquil Tide, Dapper Denim and Very Vanilla with accents of gold.
For this card I used the new Oh My Stars Textured Embossing Folder (available 6/1/17). Colors used are Fresh Fig, Dapper Denim and Very Vanilla. The border on either side of the center panel was made with Fresh Fig ink to create the tone on tone look.
For the final card I decided to stray slightly from the colors in the suite and use Lemon Lime Twist and another new In Color, Berry Burst. To me this card says summer with the bright color combo!
I just love how every card is different yet uses the same stamps and accessories. The little accent stamps can be used is so many ways, you can sit and play with this set all day long and not run out of ideas! I am so glad I bought this set, it is sure to be one of my favorites and once you play with it I know it will become one of yours too!
For the month of May you can purchase two different bundles, each with a FREE gift from Stampin’ Up! See below for all the details!
Supplies Used:
Oh My Stars TIEF Folder, Tranquil Tide Finely Woven Ribbon, Berry Burst Stampin’ Ink and Cardstock will be available June 1,2017.

As many of you know, last weekend I went to Secaucus, New Jersey for the Local OnStage Event with Stampin’ Up! It was an AMAZING time! Oh boy where do I start…..
We left on Friday morning for a reception for Leaders on Friday night and the conference on Saturday. On our way through Paramus, NJ we stopped at IKEA to wander around and look at all the pretty things they have. They had a few set-ups in their showroom that would make a beautiful organized craft room. I told my husband we are taking a road trip, I am so going back to get a few of those things!
Bright and early Saturday morning we had our event bag in hand including the first of our free giveaways, a stamp set from the new Occassions catalog, which becomes available on January 4, 2017.
This is my bag full of all the goodies I received! Be sure to check back over the next few weeks as I start unveiling new items and showing samples!!
We had a wonderful presentation and welcome from the CEO, Sara Douglass. Then it was time to get our hands on the new catalogs, the 2017 Occasions Catalog and the Sale-A-Bration mini catalog. Oh boy are you going to love them!! I know, I know I say that every catalog but these really have some impressive products! One particular set really caught my eye and I knew that was going to be my favorite one in the whole catalog. It went to the top of my wish list! Then it was time for Prize Patrol and another giveaway. And wouldn’t you know it was the set I was in love with! I sat there like a little kid muttering… “Please call the letter T, please call the letter T”. We are assigned a letter and if they call it then you are the winner of that particular set. And what an awesome moment when they called my letter, I was so excited to win my one must have set! I can’t wait to play with it and show off this gorgeous set, it reminds me of several sets Stampin’ Up! had years ago that were a favorite of mine.
After the initial shock of winning that stamp set I was so happy to be a part of more giveways and prizes to the tune of $163.75 in free sets and accessories!! Yowza!! Have I mentioned I love being a demonstrator?!?!
We spent the day listening to demonstrations using the new sets and accessories so we could bring back tons of ideas to share with YOU! We also had stamping time with some of the new products, more prizes, more free giveaways, and of course swapping!
Make & takes using new sets and accessories!
At these events we make card fronts to swap with other demos for ideas. There are so many talented stampers I am always amazed at how creative people are. These were my swaps for the event. I used Baby Bear and products from the 2016-2017 Annual Catalog. Baby Bear is also one of the stamps on sale this month for 25% off. I just love this set, it is extremely versatile and can be used for almost any occasion! The set contains greetings for baby, love, wedding and thank you, but you can easily add a party hat and make it a cute birthday card!
The event was so much fun and going to these is just one of the things I love about being a demonstrator! Sometime I just can’t believe I actually get paid to stamp!
Thank you for visiting! Over the next few weeks I will be giving sneak peeks at some of the stamp sets that will be in the Occassions catalog and for Sale-A-Bration. If you would like to get a notification each time I post a project share, specials from Stampin’ Up! or myself, class schedules or video tutorials, please make sure you click “Follow By Email” at the top of this post. I know I haven’t been posting this past week, I was pretty sick with a cold that went into a respiratory infection and I was down for the count! But like I always say this business allows me to step away when I need to and then come right back. I LOVE the flexibility that offers me.
I will be posting this week since I have so much to share with you, but I will only have one video to share because I am getting ready to travel to beautiful Secaucus, NJ for the fall OnStage Event with Stampin’ Up!. Being sick all last week I missed a whole week of prep for my card swaps so this week I am playing catch-up! I will be back in full force next week with videos and cards ideas!
What is OnStage? I am soooooo glad you asked! (insert HUGE smile from me here!) Twice a year Stampin Up! has gatherings around the world for Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators. At these events we learn about new products, get to see the brand new catalogs before anyone else, learn ways to make our businesses better for us and our customers, see old friends from all over the country, participate in amazing card swaps, and get so many great ideas to bring back to all of YOU!!!
This is the first local event I am able to attend. Last year I was supposed to travel to Baltimore, but we had a family emergency and had to cancel. Unfortunately in April for the next one I wasn’t able to go due to tax season at my day job. So I am super excited about attending this one!
This is something I really missed when I took time off from being a demonstrator. We used to go to our annual convention each year in July and it would be in a different place each year. I have traveled to San Diego, Kansas City, Minneapolis, Orlando, Las Vegas (twice) and Salt Lake City (twice). These events were so much fun! They truly were some of the best times I have had. There is nothing like getting together with thousands of other stampers and doing what we love….share ideas and stamp! Although this gathering will be smaller I know the excitement in the air will still be all around.
