It’s Never Too Early to Plan for the Holidays!

DSCN0867

I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer, enjoying time with family and friends and creating memories that will last a lifetime. Even though summer is in full swing, before you know it will be time to start creating your holiday cards.  And Stampin’ Up! is helping you by releasing a gorgeous set, Carols of Christmas along with the coordinating thinlits Card Front Builder ahead of the unveiling of the 2017 Holiday catalog!  It can be purchased separately or save 10% by buying the bundle!

I have just started playing with these and I am really having a great time!  There is so much that can be done with this bundle, from a complex card to something quite simple. I think this set will appeal to almost everyone and I put it as a must have for your holiday crafting.  You can get a lot of mileage out of the thinlits, they can be used well after the holidays, especially the beautiful frame cut out.

I created this card for our Annual Christmas in July Card Buffet and it was a huge hit!  It has a great traditional Christmas look plus it is super easy to put together and replicate in large quantities.  Enjoy!

Snowflake Card Using the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig

Today’s share feature’s another holiday card in Elegant Eggplant and using supplies from the 2016-2017 Annual Catalog.  Several techniques and tools are used on this card; a double image technique for the snowflake, sponging and the stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect placement of the words.  As you know I love a little “something” on all my cards so I used Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper as a frame around the stamped panel and a little rhinestone to dot the lower case “J”.  Enjoy!

Card Dimensions:

  • Elegant Eggplant cardstock – 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″

  • Whisper White cardstock – 4″ x 5 1/4″

Bleach Technique – Happy Ornament Card

Hello everyone!  Today’s share focuses on using regular household bleach to whiten up areas when using a darker cardstock.  Every time you use it you never know the effect it will have.  In the sample below it doesn’t bleach evenly but almost takes on a look like a globe. To me  the lighter parts resemble countries, doesn’t the area under the “HA” and “every” look like Africa? I did go in and add a little Elegant Eggplant to the ribbon and top of the ornament after bleaching.  Then for the final touch, a little Wink of Stella over the whole thing, although it is a little hard to see in the picture. Enjoy!

Card Dimensions:

  • Elegant Eggplant – 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • Gold Foil – 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Elegant Eggplant – 3 3/4″ x 5″

Supplies Used (Not Stampin’ Up!):

  • Household bleach (not diluted)
  • Old paintbrush

Holiday Decor – JOY Boxes

dscn0698

Here is an easy little holiday decor project using 3″ x 3″ White Gift boxes, Designer Series Paper, little ornaments using the Merry Tags framelits and letters cut using the Large Letters framelits. Since it is fairly easy but does take some time to assemble, I didn’t do a video, but went with pictures to show the project.  If you have any questions about this project, please contact me any time!

To begin – assemble three of the White Gift boxes, discard the acrylic sleeve (if preferred you can use the sleeve over the finished sides as added protection).  Next cut 12 pieces of This Christmas Designer Series Specialty Paper.  You will cut these slightly smaller, 2 7/8″ x 2 7/8″.  Set the front piece for each box aside and using the wide end of the Multipurpose liquid glue attach one square to the two sides and back leaving the front, bottom and top clear.

dscn0704

Right Side

With the Merry Tags Framelits, cut three of the solid tags using Garden Green cardstock and three of the filigree ornaments using the Gold Glimmer paper. Using the Multipurpose liquid glue attach the glimmer paper to the solid piece, making sure the Garden Green peeks through. To this attach a piece of Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine at the top and secure to the square of DSP that will be on the front of the box with dimensionals. Then secure the excess bakers twine to the back with a glue dot.  Attach to the front of the block with the multipurpose glue.

dscn0706

Cut the letters “J”, “O” and “Y” from Cherry Cobbler cardstock, attach to the blocks as shown with dimensionals.

Completed boxes

And there you go!  The boxes can be filled with treats or just put on display!

Project Dimensions:

  • This Christmas Designer Series Specialty Paper – 2 7/8″ x 2 7/8″ (cut 12 pieces)
  • Garden Green cardstock – 2″ x 2″ (cut 3)
  • Gold Glimmer Paper – 2 ” x 2″ (cut 3)
  • Cherry Cobbler cardstock – 3″ x 5″
  • Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine – 7″ (cut 3)
