Inspiration Take Two!

Back in August I posted an entry on where I find inspiration.  When I am out and about I look at everything, you never know when an idea will hit you.  Last Friday night my husband and I were in Walmart and I walked by a Thanksgiving display and loved the colors.  They went so well together I took a picture of the pans and the whole shopping trip I had visions of Island Indigo, Delightful Dijon and Rich Razzleberry dancing around in my head.  I couldn’t wait until the weekend so I could make some cards using those colors!!

Here are the pans that were on display:

Since it was a Thanksgiving display I decided to go with that same theme using the Paisleys & Posies set and the Give Thanks saying from Suite Seasons.  Both were made with a resist technique.  Tuesday I will have a video tutorial on this technique so be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel so you don’t miss it!

Like I tell my customers all the time, you all have inspiration inside of you already and you never know when it will hit you.  You just need to be ready when it does!

Grateful for You Card

100_0854

I can’t believe it’s November already. With Thanksgiving just around the corner, we have so much to be thankful for.  Just think of how many things we take for granted every day such as a warm bed to sleep in at night, food at our table, and a roof over our heads. We may think of them as necessities but they are luxuries to so many.  Let’s all try to count at least five blessings daily during this month.  I promise you your outlook and mood will be much better when you focus on the positive and remember a happy attitude is contagious!  Today’s share is a card perfect for giving to someone you are truly grateful for.

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with the love of family and friends!

til next time,

~Jo

Supplies:

Cardstock:
Rich Razzleberry – 1 piece (5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″) scored at 2 1/8′ and 6 3/8″
Mossy Meadow – 1 piece (2 1/4″ x 2 1/4″)
Into the Woods DSP ( Rich Razzleberry and Mellow Moss vine)- 2 pieces (1 7/8″ x 5 1/4″)
Whisper White – Scrap pieces for acorns and banner
Directions:
  • Score card base using the Simply Scored tool, fold card base on score lines, use bone folder on creases.
  • Adhere Into the Woods DSP panels on the front on each side.
  • Using the Big Shot and the Decorative Dots embossing folder run the Mellow Moss piece through.
  • Punch the acorn pieces out using the punch and the white scraps, you need two tops and two bottoms.  I have found that the way the punch is set up it is easier to punch the pieces first then stamp them. The photopolymer stamps make it a cinch to line up the piece and the image!
  • Stamp the tops using the hash mark stamp in Mellow Moss and the bottom with the stripe stamp in Rich Razzleberry.  Attach the tops to the bottoms using glue dots.
  • Cut a 1/2″ x 2 1/4″ strip from the Whisper White scraps.  Stamp the saying using Rich Razzleberry.  Notch the ends.  If you would like to you can sponge the edges with Rich Razzleberry ink to add a little depth.
  • Cut a 2 3/4″ piece of the ribbon, notch the ends.  Attach the saying using glue dots.
  • Attach the Mellow Moss piece to the left side only so the card can open like french doors.
  • Attach the saying and the acorns to the Mellow Moss piece using dimensionals.
  • Cut a 5″ piece of linen thread, thread though the button holes and tie in a bow, trim  the ends. Attach the button using glue dots.

Happy Autumn!!

100_0848Autumn is a magical time of year. There is the changing of the leaves, the air gets crisper and it’s time to break out the cozy sweaters. Decorating is also a highlight for me. The front of my house always showcases colorful mums, cornstalks, hay bales and of course pumpkins. This year I have another special decoration to add, a gorgeous hat made with the Witches Decor Project Kit and Witches Night stamp set.

The kit contains all paper supplies, pre-cut labels and leaves, accessories and complete instructions. Stampin’ Up! also has a video showing step by step how to construct your hat and tips to make sure your project comes out beautifully. The coordinating stamp set, inks and adhesive are sold separately.

Not only do you get to make this stunning decoration but the kit comes with so many extra pieces you can make several other projects to make your Halloween or Thanksgiving extra special.

100_0825 copy

This card was made using one of the pre-cut labels and an extra Spider Web Doily.  I stamped the Happy Halloween image in Elegant Eggplant. Then added two strips of Happy Haunting Designer Series Paper and a length of Into the Woods 3/8″ Cotton Ribbon.

100_0850

Again I used one of the pre-cut labels and added the black jewels from the kit,  The Trick or Treat image was stamped using Basic Black Archival ink. I wanted to use a different color palette not typical for Halloween, Elegant Eggplant and Cucumber Crush.  Since the archival ink is waterproof I decided to color the image with Aqua Painters and ink pads.  Just squeeze the lid and pad together to create a pool of ink, dip the Aqua Painter into the ink and color away!  For texture on the two cardstock panels, Decorative Dots and Lucky Stars embossing folders were used. And no card is complete with out a little bling. Black Glimmer paper and a piece of a Spider Web Doily add the perfect finishing touches.

100_0851

The leaves and acorn cut-outs included with the kit are perfect for a Thanksgiving card.  By adding a panel using Into the Woods Designer Series Paper, A Little Something and Acorny Thank You stamp sets, plus a few accessories and you have the perfect Thanksgiving card.

Even though this kit is geared towards Halloween, I think the versatility is incredible and will really take your creativity to new levels. If you have any questions about this kit or anything in the catalog, please let me know.  I would love to help!

’til next time!

~Jo
